Napoleon’s first night in the Basses-Alpes, at the home of Justice of the Peace Tartanson.
General Cambronne left Castellane at 1pm and reached
Barrême at 6pm. Napoleon arrived two hours later, despite the snow. He had dinner and then slept at the home of the justice of the peace, Tartanson.
