With more than 1500 climbing routes on limestone rock, the Canyon des Gorges du Verdon is an internationally renowned climbing site.
As early as 1968, the Grand Canyon du Verdon was opened to climbing. The Escalès cliff, accessible by the Route des Crêtes, allows the opening of large routes of more than 200 metres on one of the most beautiful limestones in the world. From the lookouts, abseiling limits the approach steps.
In the 1980s, thanks to Patrick Edlinger and many other renowned climbers, the Gorges du Verdon became the world’s star climbing site.
