Occupational therapists prevent and modify activities that are deleterious to health, ensuring that individuals have access to the occupations they want or need to do, and enabling them to perform them safely, autonomously, independently and efficiently.
Occupational therapy is a paramedical rehabilitation profession, practiced on medical prescription and regulated by the French Public Health Code.
The aim of occupational therapy is to maintain, restore and enable human activities in a safe, autonomous and efficient way. It prevents, reduces or eliminates handicaps by taking into account people’s lifestyle habits and their environment (according to the Association Nationale Française des Ergothérapeutes).
Occupational therapy is aimed at :
– toddlers with delayed sensory-motor development
– children with difficulties in their daily lives: dressing, washing, eating, communicating, organizing themselves, and in their school life: writing, cutting, concentrating
– adults who wish to improve or maintain their motor and cognitive skills: global and fine prehension, memory, attention, flexibility, planning
– adults who want to adapt their workstations, or adapt their homes to enable them to stay safely at home.
Interventions take place by appointment, initially at home in Annot and the surrounding villages, and in living environments (subject to acceptance of her presence by the host structure): crèche, school, college, leisure facilities, workplace, EHPAD.
Occupational therapy procedures are not covered by social security. However, you may be able to apply for financial assistance from mutual insurance companies, MDPH, pension insurance funds and ANAH.
