This hike will reveal the ingenuity of the local people in bringing water to the areas to be irrigated. Christiane will show you how life was in the past and how man has managed the environment.
This ancient canal, whose construction began in 1863, originated in Allos. It joined Villars-Colmars and was used to irrigate cultivated plots to meet the growing food needs of the upper valley’s inhabitants. Gradually abandoned after 1920, this historic structure is still perfectly visible. Today, this hike is a gentle way to get back into shape while enjoying the beauty of the landscape and the breathtaking views over the fortified town.
