Perched at an altitude of 1,200 metres above the village of Peyroules, this former church, abandoned during the 20th century, has undergone major restoration work.
The former parish church of Saint-Pons de Peyroules retained its function until at least the end of the 18th century. The transfer of the parish to the branch in the hamlet of La Rivière, the current chief town, took place shortly after the latter was built, between 1830 and 1832. Used as a chapel throughout the 19th century under the patron saint of the parish, Saint-Antoine, it was not abandoned until the mid-20th century. At the dawn of the 21st century, the dedication of the local people and the will of the municipality saved it from ruin.
